Finally made it to Greenland!

I was supposed to go in Greenland in 2019, but that was canceled after there were issues with the force required to break the ice core. We then missed two seasons due to COVID, after which it was beginning to seem like I would never make it to Greenland. This year, everything went smoothly, and I spent 5 weeks doing radar near EastGRIP.

We had a great team on the radar, and EasGRIP is simply a fun place to be. Due to the two missed COVID seasons, there was an enormous amount of snow and firn that needed to be moved, much of it by hand. The whole camp was involved in the process, and there was just a great spirit of camaraderie. Our work went well, as did the other project around camp, and by the time I left they were getting over 3 m of core every time the drill went down the hole. Warmer weather compared to Antarctica was nice, and the food beats any American base. If only I had an excuse to go back…
